CBD oil (cannabidiol) is extracted from the cannabis plant. Unlike THC, the psychoactive component in marijuana, CBD doesn't make you high. The CBD oil will slowly be absorbed through the skin over the next few hours (so I recommend not hopping straight away in a shower).
When used in a massage it has several potential effect:
REDUCE INFLAMMATION: Inflammation is directly linked with pain. By applying CBD oil during a massage, the cannabinoids can contribute to reducing the inflammation because of their unique ability to indirectly interact with the receptors of the endocannabinoid system (source).
RELIEVE CHRONIC PAIN. There could be several reasons why people suffer from chronic pain. A recent report analysed the scientific data and showed there is substantial evidence that cannabis is an effective treatment for chronic pain (source).
IMPROVE SKIN HEALTH. When CBD is applied directly into the skin during a massage, it may promote skin health. Because of its effect on inflammation and anti-oxidant effects, research indicates CBD can help lessen the visible signs of ageing on skin. By counteracting free-radical damage, CBD oil may be able to contribute visibly diminish issues like wrinkles, skin dullness, and ruddy skin tone (source).
ALLEVIATE ANXIETY AND STRESS. Getting a massage is already a great way to reduce stress, and adding CBD into the mix can help your mind relax even more. Many studies have shown that CBD has potent anti-anxiety properties and an incredible ability to induce calming, relaxing effects (source).
